How companies like Uber are driving growth using events

With Uber recently announcing the release of UberEVENTS, we take a closer look at how businesses, large and small, are using events to power their growth.

Airbnb

Airbnb is making full use of the power of intimate live events by organising and helping their users organise meetups and gatherings for Airbnb users. Past events include “A toast to London”, “Colombo Get-Together @ Lemon Bar” and “DC Host Appreciation Social @ Hoban’s!“. Airbnb knows how to leverage the power of events to strengthen their community of users, which helps build brand loyalty and increase customer retention.

Most businesses don’t have the luxury of Airbnb’s size and growth to afford planning this many events for their users. However, what we can learn from Airbnb is to let our networks and users do the work for us. Tap more extensively into your network of users and encourage them to plan events through one or two passionate community managers that you hire.

Uber

Recently launched in late September 2015, UberEvents is a service that allows organizers to buy and secure car passes ahead of the occasion to send to guests, clients or whoever needs one to get to the location via email.

This is great for exposing Uber’s services to the event-goers who use their service when they attend a particular event.

Ramada Singapore At Zhongshan Park

Local businesses in Singapore are also exploiting the power of events to market themselves. Ramada Singapore at Zhongshan Park, a hotel in Singapore, is currently organising the Ah Hood Burger Challenge on 28 Nov 2015, a burger eating contest to promote their Ah Hood burger stall.

Upcoming Event on 28 Nov 2015
Upcoming Event on 28 Nov 2015

By giving away Flavours At Zhongshan Park vouchers as the prize, they also promote the other restaurants in their hotel.

The event is a great way to get people to know about them as well as to bring them back with the prizes given away at the event! By planning a competition, they can also leverage on the networks of the participants who will bring their family and friends down for support. And how do they do that? By offering a package for families and friends to enjoy the food without stuffing their stomachs till they explode.

Pigeon Singapore

Pigeon Singapore, producer of Mother and Baby Care Products, hosts the SG Mass Latch On in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Week annually. The event sees mothers of all walks of life come together to latch on their babies at the same time.

Planning social gatherings and meetups for mothers creates a positive branding effect for Pigeon amongst their main target group. They are seen as the champion of women and mothers in Singapore. By organising it in conjunction with a worldwide event, they can also leverage online opportunities for marketing. They are also able to use the event giveaways to promote their breastfeeding products.

Oktoberfest (Augustiner, Hacker Pschorr, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner, Spaten)

Oktoberfest, the most famous beer festival and travelling funfair which happens in Munich from late September to October every year is an extravagant display of the biggest beer brands in Munich. It draws millions of people from all around the world for weeks of beers, Bavarian culture and carnival rides. Imagine the market reach for the beer brands involved!

One thing we can learn from these brands is the power of collaboration. The event is so successful because it brings together the best of Munich’s breweries. They draw on each other’s brand power to create a bigger entity that they cannot create alone.

These beer brands have created a legacy brand on the back of a highly successful event. Both the beer brands and the event Oktoberfest have now become synonymous with Bavarian culture.

Events are a powerful tool in every business’ arsenal. Use them in a way that builds a community for your business and you will witness increasing brand evangelism, recurrent purchases and higher brand awareness.

Oktoberfest and where to celebrate it in Singapore!

Hello everybody! It is the month of October and with that Oktoberfest looms over us. For those who do not know what Oktoberfest is, it is the world’s largest funfair that is held in Munich, Germany. The festival was first celebrated when Crown Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I, was married to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen on October 12, 1810. With its culture and festivities, it is no wonder that the Bavarian event is being celebrated all around the globe yearly. Singapore is no exception.

With the backstory out of the way, we can finally talk about the places you can go to for a good Oktoberfest experience right here in Singapore.

1. Oktoberfest Asia 2014

After a successful run last year, Oktoberfest Asia is back to provide Singapore with the atmosphere and experience I can expect from the Oktoberfest in Munich. 5 ways to celebrate Fathers’ Day & more parenting events

A son’s first hero, a daughter’s first love – fathers indeed. This Sunday 15 June, let us all gather our love, gratitude and immense respect for our first hero and first love to celebrate Father’s Day 2014. While we were all busy growing up, spending more time in school, at work or with our friends, we might have forgotten the one who was silently supporting us behind our back.

Here are 5 simple things you can do for/with your Super Dad this Father’s Day.

1. Whip up a meal for him

You do not need to be Gordon Ramsey or Martin Yan in the kitchen, just prepare a simple meal or dessert that your dad love it, and I am sure it will put a smile on his face. If you have no idea where you can start from, you can start googling for recipes or meat dishes could be the recipe you are looking for! Alternatively, you can choose to bring daddy dearest out for a meal to pamper him with his favourite cuisine or gourmet.

2. Catch a show/movie CBTDCheaper by the Dozen 2, a family comedy about a dad and his 12 children

Spend some quality time with your father by watching his favourite drama or movie with him, or you can be the one picking the show. Choose something hilarious for you and your dad to unwind and bond with one another through laughter. Create happy moments with him on this day especially if you are really busy at school or at work.

3. Have a game or two

You can sit down somewhere with your dad and have a few rounds of Chinese chess or English chess with him. Alternatively, if your family enjoy doing sports you can have a few rounds of racquet or ball games with him. This is a good opportunity for you and your dad to sweat it out despite busy schedule and to keep him fit and healthy.

4. Coffee or Tea? How about a brew?

Daddy dearest might need to relax and take his mind off his workload. You can plan to take him for a stroll at a park nearby or have a drink with him! Share your daily happenings with him over a cup of coffee or tea. You can also bring him to a brewery to have a drink or two. Your dad will be elated to hear about the new guy or girl you met at the bar last week!

5. Bring him out for a spa or massage session

Who says only women deserves to be pampered? Treat your dad to a rejuvenating and relaxing spa or massage session. Allow him to take his mind off any vexing matters momentarily and recharge.

Every dad is different in their own way, and the way every dad brings their children up would differ as well. But it is undeniable that their love for their children will ever fall behind. Our Dad’s almighty love granted us enormous strength to conquer the world. This Fathers’ Day, EventNook would like to wish all the fathers out there a very Happy Father’s Day! If you are planning any form of event to celebrate this occasion, check us out at EventNook.com. You can also sign up for upcoming parenting events here , to experience parenthood to the fullest!
